The volunteer opportunities offered through the joint programs of the Arizona Bar Foundation and State Bar of Arizona include free and Modest Means legal assistance projects. Also, included are opportunities to volunteer with law related education programs at schools across Arizona.

Modest Means Project - The Modest Means Project is a partnership program from the Arizona Bar Foundation and the State Bar of Arizona. The Project provides low-cost legal assistance to individuals who do not qualify for free legal services, but cannot afford the expertise of attorneys at the standard rate. The Modest Means Project assists individuals in a one-hour meeting for a fee of $75. In that meeting, attorneys are expected to offer only brief advice or unbundled services. A lawyer may offer full representation, but it is not the expectation of the Modest Means Project. If full representation is requested, the Modest Means Project attorney can agree to offer representation beyond the scope of the Project's one-hour consultation commitment, but must maintain the fee of $75 per hour.

Military / Veteran’s Legal Assistance Project -  The Military/ Veteran’s Legal Assistance Project, is a partnership with the Arizona Bar Foundation and the State Bar of Arizona, with support from the Arizona Supreme Court. The project provides legal assistance to the active military and veterans. There is a need for volunteers to assist at legal clinics, answer questions and/or post articles on the lawforveterans.org website,  provide free or  Modest Means legal advice, and provide advice to other volunteer attorneys needing expertise related to the military and veterans.

Online Pro bono Project - The Arizona Bar Foundation has opportunities for providing brief services over the internet by answering legal questions posted by a user of one of our three legal help websites: lawforveterans.org; lawforseniors.org, and  azlawhelp.org . You can also volunteer to provide general legal information to questions posted from youth on our lawforkids.org website.  Follow the link and choose ‘website content’.

Wills for Heroes Arizona - The Wills for Heroes program provides free estate planning legal services to first responder personnel in Arizona. The Arizona Bar Foundation, in partnership with the State Bar of Arizona, oversees the program and is an affiliate of the Wills for Heroes Foundation, a charitable 501(c)(3) entity.

Law Related Education Programs - The Arizona Bar Foundation has volunteer opportunities available in the area of Law Related Education. If you are interested in volunteering your time to assist in teaching children in grades K-12 about the law, we have the resources and can help make the connection.
